In an exclusive interview with Marca published on Dec. 24, the former French Open champion was asked whether the chapter between them had been closed for good or if the possibility of a future reunion remained open. Ferrero made it clear that the split was not driven by bitterness. He emphasized that their strong personal bond remains intact, differences of opinion are natural, and a future reunion is possible.
“Of course I’m not closing the door. With the relationship we’ve had, closing the door definitively wouldn’t be logical, neither for him nor for the team. I want to end things well with them. Disagreeing on certain points doesn’t mean we’re not still friends or that we don’t maintain a very good relationship,” he said.
Ferrero expressed unwavering faith in Alcaraz’s extraordinary potential, reiterating his belief that the Spaniard can become one of the greatest tennis players in history, while stressing that a capable team could guide him forward.
“I wish Carlos all the best, and I believe he has the potential to be the best tennis player in history. It’s something I’ve said many times. And even if I’m not there, he has people around him who can prepare him very well,” he added.
