Jessica Pegula recently found herself at the center of a WTA graphic blunder alongside 2026 Linz Open finalists Mirra Andreeva and Anastasia Potapova. Following this incident, the former World No. 3 took to social media and made her feelings known.
Why Jessica Pegula Reacted to the WTA’s Linz Open Graphic Mistake
Pegula began her clay-court season at the 2026 Charleston Open. She was the top seed at the tournament and started her campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. In her opening match, she defeated Yulia Putintseva with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, and then eliminated 14th seed Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the third round with a score of 1-6, 6-1, 7-6(1).
In the quarterfinals, the former World No. 3 overcame seventh seed Diana Shnaider by a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 and advanced to the final by defeating fourth seed Iva Jovic with scores of 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. In the championship match, she triumphed over Yuliia Starodubtseva 6-2, 6-2, successfully defending her title and claiming her 11th WTA Tour title.
Recently, the official social media page of the WTA shared a graphic incorrectly showing Andreeva and Potapova as the finalists for the 2026 Charleston Open instead of the Linz Open.
Reacting to this error, Pegula took to social media and humorously pointed out that she had already secured the Charleston Open title, implying that Andreeva and Potapova would be competing for the title at the Linz Open instead.
“think I already secured Charleston 🤔,” Jessica Pegula posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Looking ahead, Pegula is scheduled to compete in the 2026 Madrid Open, which will take place from April 20 to May 3, 2026. The tournament will be held on outdoor clay courts at La Caja Mágica in Madrid, Spain.
In addition to the former World No. 3, other players expected to participate in the WTA 1000 clay-court tournament include Coco Gauff, Andreeva, Amanda Anisimova, Belinda Bencic, Alexandra Eala, Madison Keys, Naomi Osaka, defending champion Aryna Sabalenka, and former champion Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek.
Pegula achieved her best result at the Madrid Open in 2022. Seeded 12th, she began her campaign by defeating Camila Giorgi (7-5, 2-6, 7-5) in the first round. She then eliminated qualifier Kaia Kanepi (6-3, 6-3) and Bianca Andreescu (7-5, 6-1) in the second and third rounds, respectively.
In the quarterfinals, Pegula overcame Sara Sorribes Tormo (6-4, 6-2) and secured her place in the final by triumphing over Jil Teichmann (6-3, 6-4) in the semifinals. In the championship match, she faced eighth seed Ons Jabeur and finished as the runner-up after losing with a scoreline of 5-7, 6-0, 2-6.
Jessica Pegula’s best result in the doubles event at the Madrid Open came in 2023 when she partnered with Gauff. They reached the final and finished as the runners-up to Victoria Azarenka and Beatriz Haddad Maia.
