Earlier this year, Pegula’s father, who has rarely made public appearances while caring for his wife, Kim, since her sudden cardiac arrest in June 2022, lamented that he has not been able to see his daughter play in person often. He mentioned that he will be “more available” in the future to watch Pegula compete.

“I can’t even go watch my daughter play tennis. She’s got to No. 3 in the world, and I’ve been to like two of her matches in the last four years. I think that’s a possibility in the future. We have issues in the family, but I can see me being more available in the future,” Terry Pegula said.

In addition to her singles campaign at the 2026 Miami Open, Pegula is also competing in the doubles event alongside Storm Hunter. In the first round, they defeated the pair of Ann Li and Magda Linette and advanced to the quarterfinals, where they will face the duo of Elise Mertens and Zhang Shuai, after their second-round opponents, Mirra Andreeva and Victoria Mboko, withdrew.
