A joyous occasion unfolded for the Pegula family as Jessica Pegula’s father, Terry Pegula, marked his 75th birthday on Friday, March 27. The day got even more special when Terry’s younger daughter, Jessica’s sister, Kelly, took to social media to share a heartfelt wish for her father online.

Kelly Pegula Shares Heartfelt Birthday Wish for Father Terry

Terry Pegula forged his wealth through ventures in natural gas and petroleum before expanding his footprint into professional sports alongside his wife, Kim Pegula. The couple now owns the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League and the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League.

The 75-year-old is a father to five children, including Michael and Laura from a previous marriage. He later married Kim in 1993, and the WTA world No. 5 was born nearly a year later, followed by her sister, Kelly, and her brother, Matthew.

Recently, Terry received a heartfelt birthday tribute from his younger daughter, Kelly, on her Instagram story. She shared a touching photo of herself seated beside her father, watching him with admiration as he posed confidently in a sharp black suit. “Happy Bday Dad,” she captioned.

Jessica Pegula has previously spoken about her father’s involvement in her tennis journey. Pegula acknowledged that her father pushed her hard, but she welcomed it. She enjoyed tennis deeply, never resisted the pressure, and felt her parents struck the right balance in guiding and motivating her.

“My dad was definitely more of the crazy one, and he definitely put pressure on me, but also like, I wanted it, I liked it, I didn’t mind it. It wasn’t like I was fighting him on it. I really wanted to play tennis. I loved going to my tennis lessons, I loved going to my academy. Like, that was what I wanted to do. And I think they just saw that, and they knew they could push me a little bit. So, I felt like they did a good job of that at that age,” she said in an interview with Tennis Insider Club last year.

Despite the 32-year-old’s rise as one of the sport’s leading figures, her father has seldom been present at her matches in recent years. His absence stemmed from prioritizing the care of his wife, Kim, after she suffered cardiac arrest in June 2022. He has also expressed regret over missing many of Jessica’s matches and shared his intention to be more present moving forward.

Terry and Kim were reportedly in attendance during Jessica Pegula’s quarterfinal match against Elena Rybakina at the Miami Open. It was the 10-time tour titlist’s most recent outing, where she fell 6-2, 3-6, 4-6 to the Kazakh. Pegula has enjoyed a stellar start to 2026, boasting a 16-3 record and clinching a title in Dubai, and she will look to carry that momentum into the upcoming clay-court swing.
