‘I Don’t Cry Normally’ – Linda Nosková Breaks Down in Tears While Honoring Late Mother and Emotional Father at Wimbledon

Linda Nosková delivered an emotional victory speech, honoring her parents, after winning her first Grand Slam at Wimbledon 2026.

Linda Nosková capped off her dream Wimbledon run by lifting the elusive Venus Rosewater Dish at the 2026 Championships on Saturday, July 11. The young Czech star beat her compatriot and friend Karolína Muchová 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in a thrilling title clash.

During their post-final speeches, both players were in tears. Nosková, who had her father cheering for her from the stands, emotionally honored her late mother Ivana, who passed away in July two years ago after a long battle with cancer.

Linda Nosková Honors Her Parents in Emotional Champion’s Speech at Wimbledon

Nosková emerged as the biggest success story of the 2026 grass court swing. The 21-year-old started her campaign at the Berlin Tennis Open, where she beat the likes of Paula Badosa, Alexandra Eala, and Jessica Pegula to clinch her maiden title on the surface and her second singles title overall. She also won the doubles title at the tournament.

After a quick exit in Bad Homburg, Nosková began her campaign at SW19 with wins against Ella Seidel and Camila Osorio before saving a match point against Sorana Cîrstea. She then produced convincing performances against Madison Keys, Elise Mertens, and Marta Kostyuk before being challenged by Muchová in the final.

After finally converting her sixth championship point — having squandered five opportunities in the second set — the World No. 12 collapsed to the ground in a mix of relief and disbelief after sealing the title.

Her player box, comprising of her coaching team and family members, including her father, Drahoš, erupted in celebration as emotions ran high. She shared heartfelt embraces with her loved ones before returning to Center Court to collect the trophy and deliver her victory speech.

“I want to thank my team. I’ll thank my dad for coming here for, you know,” she said before breaking down. “…for my family members coming here; flying here. I know you don’t like flying, so I appreciate it.”

“There’s also one more person that I would like to thank, which is my mom. I definitely would not be standing here without her, so thank you,” she said, blowing a kiss to the skies.

“Guys, I don’t cry normally. This is not okay for me. I have been enjoying these two weeks so much. All the sad tears; all the happy tears; all the sweat and blood put into this. It was all worth it, so I’ll definitely never forget these two weeks,” she continued.

Nosková became the third Czech player to be crowned Wimbledon singles champion in the last four years after Markéta Vondroušová (2023) and Barbora Krejčíková (2024). With her maiden Grand Slam title secured, she is set to rise to a career-high World No. 7 in the WTA rankings on Monday.
