Jannik Sinner Makes ‘Tipsy’ Admission at Wimbledon Champions’ Ball

After a shocking second-round exit at the French Open, Sinner made a remarkable turnaround at Wimbledon. He produced an impressive campaign, including a dominant win over Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, to set up a showdown with Alexander Zverev in the title clash.

Although he lost a tightly contested first set, the Italian bounced back strongly to claim a 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 victory, successfully defending his title at the grass-court Major and capturing his first Grand Slam trophy of the season.

Following his victory, Sinner arrived at the Wimbledon Champions’ Ball in an elegant black tuxedo and took the stage for an interview, where he was asked about his mother, Siglinde, who left the stadium multiple times during the tense final.

In a candid response, the 24-year-old humorously said he was a “little tipsy” before acknowledging that it was normal for his mother to step away from the match when it became too stressful.

“How is it? I don’t know. I’m a little bit tipsy so… I try to talk very simple with the right words because. But no, Mum left a couple of times the stadium, which is normal. I’m not a parent yet so I don’t know how it feels when the son is playing there. But at the end of the day, we do enjoy moments like this. We can see everyone is very, very happy to be here and of course I try to make them happy as well,” he said.

Sinner made another amusing remark, revealing that he had failed his motorcycle license test for the fourth time just before arriving at Wimbledon.

“I’ve failed it four times. Before coming here, I failed once again. Maybe next year, you ask me the same question,” he said.
