Jack Draper vs Brandon Nakashima Preview

Draper has enjoyed a solid season so far, highlighted by multiple deep runs and a maiden Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells. The Brit was also runner-up at the Madrid Open and the Qatar Open.

After a fourth-round exit at the French Open, Draper started his grass-court season at the Queen’s Club Championships as the second seed, opening with a commanding 6-3, 6-1 win over Jenson Brooksby. Although Alexei Popyrin tested him in their second-round match, the Brit held firm to win 3-6, 6-2, 7-6(5).

Nakashima, the other hand, has struggled with his form so far in 2025, suffering first-round exits at numerous tournaments. His best results were semifinal runs at the Mexican Open and the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships.

Nakashima had a few promising performances on clay, reaching the semifinals of the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships and the fourth round of the Madrid Open. After an opening-round exit at the French Open, the 23-year-old had a decent start to his grass swing, reaching the quarterfinals of the Boss Open.

Nakashima entered the Queen’s Club Championships and started his campaign with a gripping three-set win against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. Nakashima then got past Dan Evans to reach the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 event.

Their head-to-head is currently locked at 1-1, with Draper winning their previous encounter in the semifinals of the BOSS Open last year.

Jack Draper vs Brandon Nakashima Prediction

Draper had to battle hard to reach his third Queen’s Club quarterfinal, saving two match points at 4-5 in the third set and rallying from 2/4 in the tiebreak to overcome Popyrin. The Brit even admitted after the match that it got tough to beat the Aussie. Nakashima, meanwhile, advanced with a straight-set win over Evans, setting up what could be a tight quarterfinal battle.

Their overall win percentage on grass is also quite close, namely 62.75% for Nakashima and 61.54% for Draper. Last year, the Brit had a solid grass-court season, winning the BOSS Open and reaching the quarterfinals of the Queen’s Club Championships.

Nakashima, meanwhile, reached the semifinals in Stuttgart, the second round at the Queen’s Club Championships, and exited Wimbledon in the third round. While both players seem to carry momentum on grass this season, Draper may have a slight edge on Friday with the support of the home crowd.

Pick: Draper to win in three sets.
