The World No. 27, who was born to Serbian immigrants, Bojan and Jelena, has begun her Grand Slam campaign after delivering prominent performances in the ASB Classic tournament and the Hobart International, in which she entered as the third seed.
At the ASB Classic, Jović reached the semifinals, losing to the eventual champion, Elina Svitolina, and had previously defeated Gabriela Andrea Knutson, Sara Bejlek, and Sofia Costoulas. At Hobart, she dominated throughout her journey, defeating Janice Tjen, Renata Zarazúa, Magda Linette, and Taylah Preston to reach the finals, only to lose to Italian star Elisabetta Cocciaretto.
Through her Instagram story, the young star expressed her heartfelt reaction after becoming one of the seven American players to reach the third round in Women’s Singles at Melbourne Park since 2015. She mentioned “🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 (three US flag emoticons).”

The USTA Instagram post shared the feat, adding in the caption, “American women making their mark at the Australian Open 🇺🇸🎾.”

Along with Jović, Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys, Hailey Baptiste, Peyton Stearns, and Amanda Anisimova have all reached the third round at Melbourne Park, cementing a legendary milestone for the United States women’s tennis.
Gauff, for her third round, will be facing Baptiste, and Pegula has reached her third round after defeating her fellow American and her doubles partner, McCartney Kessler.
Considering her opponent, the billionaire heiress had amicably expressed, “We have tried to hook up for doubles so many times and we were joking of course, the time we actually are in the draw and ready to play, we play each other the next round in singles. It’s always tough but she’s great, her team’s great, super cool family, so no worries.”
Jović is set to play Italian star Jasmine Paolini, and the PFSN’s exclusive interactive simulator shows the latter has a 75% chance of winning. Keys, the defending champion, will face KarolÃna PlÃÅ¡ková, and Pegula will clash against Oksana Selekhmeteva in their third-round matches, while Stearns and Anisimova will face each other.
