Iga Świątek vs Jessica Pegula Preview

Fourth seed Iga Świątek will take on top seed Jessica Pegula in the final of the Bad Homburg Open. The Pole has won 35 out of 45 matches so far in 2025, reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open, the French Open, and three WTA 1000 events. Her only final came at the Bad Homburg Open.

Świątek received a bye to the second round of the WTA 500 event due to her seeding and started her campaign with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Victoria Azarenka. She then beat eighth seed Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-4, 7-6(5) to book her place in the quarterfinals. Here, the Pole faced second seed Jasmine Paolini and produced a dominant display to win 6-1, 6-3 and reach the semifinals.

Pegula has won 34 out of 46 matches so far in the 2025 season, notably winning two titles and reaching the final of the Miami Open. However, the 31-year-old had a disappointing start to her grass-court season, as she lost her opening match at the Berlin Tennis Open.

She received a bye to the second round of the Bad Homburg Open by virtue of being one of the top four seeds. The American started her campaign at the grass-court event with a comprehensive 6-2, 6-3 win over Kateřina Siniaková to set up a quarterfinal clash with fifth seed Emma Navarro.

Pegula and Navarro played out a thrilling encounter, and the former won 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 to qualify for the semifinals. Here, she faced Linda Nosková and found herself a set and a break down. The American put on a resilient display to win 6-7(2), 7-5, 6-1 and reach her fourth final of the 2025 season.

Iga Świątek vs Jessica Pegula Head-to-Head

Świątek leads 6-4 in the head-to-head between the two. Their last encounter came during last year’s US Open quarterfinals, with the American winning 6-2, 6-4.

Iga Świątek vs Jessica Pegula Prediction

Grass has not been Świątek’s best surface but she will be high on confidence after her dominant win over Jasmine Paolini, who was last year’s Wimbledon runner-up. Pegula has had some wins over the Pole and will be eager to narrow the gap in their head-to-head.

Świątek has won 89 out of 114 points on her first serve so far at the Bad Homburg Open, serving 15 aces. The Pole has also won 83 out of 182 points (45.6%) on her return. Pegula has served 20 aces so far during the WTA 500 event and has served 116 out of 151 points (76.8%). Her win percentage on return is slightly lesser compared to that of Świątek’s, winning 110 out of 253 points (43.4%).

Pegula has had to grind out most of her wins at the Bad Homburg Open while Świątek has pretty much sailed smoothly. Eventually, composure will play a big role, and if the American maintains her resilience, she could get her fifth victory over the Pole and win her third title of the 2025 season.

Prediction: Pegula to win in three sets.
