While Iga Swiatek is currently focused on her run at the 2026 National Bank Open in Toronto, she recently took a detour from the hard courts to answer a fun hypothetical question: Who would make her ultimate “World Series” team? Never one to shy away from her diverse interests, the six-time Grand Slam champion instantly built a star-studded roster that includes tennis royalty and her favorite pop culture and Hollywood icons. And she also has a hilarious rationale behind each pick.
‘Maybe She Can Sing During Breaks’: Iga Swiatek’s Dream World Series Team Features Taylor Swift, Serena Williams, and Jannik Sinner
In a clip the WTA recently posted on TikTok, the Pole was asked a baseball question: who all would she pick for her dream World Series team if she were the captain?
Leading off her selections was former WTA World No. 1, Ash Barty. The former World No. 1 is famous for her multi-sport prowess, having previously stepped away from tennis to play professional cricket. “She’s good at different sports, so for sure she would adjust quickly.” Swiatek said.
No dream team of Swiatek’s would be complete without her idol, Rafael Nadal. She selected the 22-time Grand Slam champion, noting she’d want Rafa on the team “just to inspire all of us and show us that we can.”
Since it’s baseball, you need a designated hitter to smash a home run, and for that, Swiatek drafted the 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams, as she can probably hit the ball ‘the furthest.’ Also, of all the reasons, Swiatek called upon World No. 1 Jannik Sinner because he has long arms.

Beyond the sports world, she tapped into Hollywood and the music industry. As a self-proclaimed “Swiftie,” Swiatek admitted she would pick global superstar Taylor Swift primarily for the opportunity “to meet her,” adding that Swift could double as team entertainment by singing for the squad during breaks. On the defensive end, she selected British actor Tom Holland, praising the Spider-Man star for his athleticism.
Last but not least, Swiatek selected her core support system, including her coach Francisco Roig, to offer “more experience than the rest” of the team, and reserved the final spot on the squad for one of her best friends “just to have some laugh.”
On the tennis front, the No. 7 seed advanced to the fourth round at the National Bank Open, defeating Viktorija Golubic 6-2, 6-1 in 66 minutes. With multiple early exits, a coaching change, and a decline in form, she is looking to turn things around in this North American hard-court swing. Swiatek will next face either No. 10 seed Marta Kostyuk
or No. 19 seed Madison Keys as she aims to reach her second quarterfinal in Canada.
