Świątek vs. Osaka Head-to-Head Record
This will be their fourth meeting on the WTA Tour, with Świątek leading 2-1. Osaka won their first meeting before Świątek triumphed in Miami in 2022 and at the 2024 French Open in three sets.
Świątek has had to deal with a number of setbacks this year and is still waiting to reach her first semifinal. She holds a 16-8 record in 2026 but does appear to be in brighter spirits following the appointment of Francisco Roig as her head coach.
Still, Świątek has plenty of improving to do if she is to make another deep run at the French Open this year. She started her stint with Roig with a quarterfinals exit in Stuttgart and was forced to retire during her third-round match in Madrid due to illness. Her Rome run began with a hard-fought win over Caty McNally in three sets, but she found her groove against Cocciaretto.
Osaka has enjoyed an encouraging start to the clay-court swing. She made the fourth round in Madrid, losing to Aryna Sabalenka in three sets.
The 28-year-old started her Italian Open campaign with a hard-fought win over Eva Lys in three sets. She breezed past Shnaider on Sunday, dominating on her serve and breaking her opponent’s serve five times.
Świątek vs. Osaka Prediction and Pick
Osaka hasn’t played much this year but has shown glimpses of the quality that has helped her win four Grand Slams. Clay is certainly not her favorite surface, but she is proving her mettle on the red dirt this year.
Disciplined on her serve and more proactive in her approach, Osaka is playing first-strike tennis of the highest quality at the moment.
On the other hand, Świątek is certainly not enjoying the best of seasons. But she can never be discounted on clay, especially with the French Open just around the corner. The Pole is a three-time champion in Rome and will want to make a deep run this week to get some confidence back on side after her disappointing start to the year.

This is a highly anticipated rematch of their 2024 French Open classic, and we believe that Świątek will once again eke out a victory to turn the tide in what has been a wretched season for her by her high standards.
Pick: Świątek to win in three sets.
