Iga Świątek Lauded by Friends Actress Following Bad Homburg Runner-Up Finish

Iga Świątek received high praise from actress Courteney Cox for her runner-up finish at the Bad Homburg Open. The two have previously shared the court, having played tennis together for a promotional event ahead of the French Open last year.

Świątek kicked off her grass court season at the Bad Homburg Open. She was seeded fourth at the WTA 500 tournament and began her campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. In her opening match, she defeated qualifier Victoria Azarenka in straight-set victory, winning 6-4, 6-4.

In the quarterfinals, the former World No. 1 triumphed over eighth seed Ekaterina Alexandrova with a scoreline of 6-4, 7-6(5). She then advanced to the final after registering a 6-1, 6-3 win over second seed Jasmine Paolini. In the championship match, Świątek faced off against top seed Jessica Pegula, ultimately finishing as the runner-up after losing to the American 6-4, 7-5.

Iga Świątek Praised by Actress Courtney Cox for Her Runner-Up Finish at Bad Homburg Open 2025

Following her runner-up finish at the 2025 Bad Homburg Open, Świątek took to social media to share a series of photos capturing some of her special moments at the tournament and in Bad Homburg.

In her caption, the Pole expressed gratitude for the “support” and “kindness” she received throughout the WTA 500 event.

“It’s been truly amazing to return to Bad Homburg this week. 🤩Thank you for the support and your kindness. I’m proud of the work we put over last few weeks to improve, to take another steps,” Świątek said.

Świątek reflected on her performance, noting that it has instilled a sense of “satisfaction” as she prepares for the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. She also congratulated Pegula on winning the tournament.

“This everyday effort and commitment with a lot of grit and fun lead to great result that makes me go to Wimbledon with satisfaction and determination to progress every week on the court and face next challenges. And we will see how it goes.😉 Time to fuel up a bit🔋, focus on another step yet still to remember big picture. See you in London! Congratulations @jpegula Well deserved!” she added.

Reacting to Świątek’s runner-up finish at the 2025 Bad Homburg Open, actress Cox lauded the Pole, calling her “incredible.”

“You’re incredible Iga!! ❤️,” Cox commented.

Looking ahead, Świątek is next set to compete at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, which will take place from Jun. 30 to Jul. 13, 2025, at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London.

Last year at the London Major, Świątek defeated  Sofia Kenin and Petra Martić in the first and second rounds, respectively, before being eliminated by Yulia Putintseva in the third round.

Świątek is seeded eighth at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, and she will kick off her campaign by taking on Polina Kudermetova in the opening round.

Leading up to the grass-court Grand Slam, Kudermetova participated in the 2025 Libéma Open, where she faced a loss to her sister, Veronika Kudermetova, with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-3 in the first round.

The first round match between Świątek and Kudermetova will mark the first encounter between the two players on the WTA Tour. The winner will advance to face either Caty McNally or Wild Card Jodie Burrage in the second round.
