Grigor Dimitrov Reacts to Girlfriend Eiza González Appreciating His Stunning Shot at Brisbane International

Dimitrov concluded his 2025 tennis season after competing in the Paris Masters. Prior to that, he had been absent from the tour since the 2025 Wimbledon Championships due to a pectoral muscle injury. In Paris, he advanced to the second round but had to withdraw midway through the match because of a shoulder injury, which prematurely ended his season.

At the 2026 Brisbane International, Dimitrov began his campaign by defeating qualifier Pablo Carreño Busta with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-2 in the first round. During the match, he played a remarkable shot in the second set that was met with applause from the spectators.

The former World No. 3’s girlfriend, González, took to social media and shared a video of Dimitrov scoring that point, accompanied by two emojis to express her admiration for his performance.

“@grigordimitrov 🧼 🧼,” González captioned her Instagram story.

In response to González’s reaction, Dimitrov re-shared her post on his social media, adding a red heart emoji and a praying hands emoji.

“🙏🏻 ❤️,” Dimitrov wrote.

Dimitrov won his first Brisbane International title in 2017 by defeating Kei Nishikori in the final. He claimed his second title in Brisbane seven years later, in 2024, by beating Holger Rune in the championship match. The former World No. 3 has also been the runner-up at the tournament in 2013 after falling to Andy Murray in the final.

Following his victory over Carreño Busta in the first round of the 2026 Brisbane International, Dimitrov is set to face qualifier Raphaël Collignon in the second round of the tournament.

Collignon earned his spot in the main draw of the ATP 250 hard court tournament in Brisbane by defeating Alexander Shevchenko 7-5, 6-4, and Ethan Quinn 7-5, 6-3 in the first and second qualifying rounds, respectively.

In the main draw, Collignon eliminated fifth seed Denis Shapovalov 6-4, 6-2, advancing to the second round to face Dimitrov. This matchup will be the first time the Bulgarian and Collignon will compete against each other on the ATP Tour.

The winner of the second-round match between Dimitrov and Collignon will advance to the quarterfinals, where they will meet either Brandon Nakashima or qualifier Quentin Halys.
