What Was Frances Tiafoe’s Sweet Birthday Message to Ayan Broomfield From Miles Away?

Broomfield, a former NCAA doubles champion for UCLA, has been a constant presence in Tiafoe’s life, supporting him through the highs and lows of his career. Fans also know her for her role as Venus Williams’s body double in the acclaimed film King Richard.

Tiafoe is currently enjoying a solid run in Cincinnati, marking his ninth appearance at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament. Entering the draw as the 10th seed, he received a bye into the second round, where he overcame Spain’s Roberto Carballés Baena in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

He backed up that win with another straight-sets victory over 20th seed Ugo Humbert, 6-4, 6-4, to book his place in the Round of 16. Despite the competitive schedule, Tiafoe made sure to pause and recognize Broomfield’s special day.

The birthday tribute appeared on Tiafoe’s Instagram Stories on Tuesday, August 13. Sharing a glamorous photo of Broomfield, he captioned it, “It’s @ayan.broomfield day happy 28 Bday BB.”

Broomfield Opened Up About Falling for Tiafoe in Their Teens

In a March 2025 appearance on Tennis Channel’s ‘Second Serve,’ Broomfield reflected on how she and Tiafoe first crossed paths. She revealed that mutual friend and fellow tennis pro Victoria Duval introduced them, sparking a friendship that eventually blossomed into romance. With a smile, the Canadian added that Duval has a permanent invitation to their future wedding.

“I met Frances, so we both knew about each other, but I met him in person in 2015,” Broomfield said. “Actually, a former player named Victoria Duval, she knew both of us individually and she kind of peeped in Frances’ ear and said, ‘I think you guys would be fun together, I think you would have a good time.’ And so, Frances reached out and we became friends for about six months.”

“At first we became best friends, and then he asked me out and it’s been history. It’s been a while. We always tell her, ‘you’ll be at the wedding,’” she added.
