Canadian tennis star Felix Auger-Aliassime is experiencing one of the most exciting periods of his career. Just weeks before his wedding to long-time fiancée Nina Ghaibi, the 25th seed has been making impressive strides at the 2025 US Open while juggling wedding preparations that have largely fallen to his bride-to-be.
What Did Felix Auger-Aliassime Say About His Wedding with Fiancée Nina Ghaibi?
During a recent press conference at Flushing Meadows, Auger-Aliassime was asked about his wedding planning progress. When questioned about getting an update on the preparations, the Canadian kept things light-hearted.
“I don’t know. You have to ask her,” he replied with a smile. When pressed about having no input in the planning, he admitted, “I’m busy playing. All I know is, I got a fitting the day after the finals here. So that’s about it. But, she’s been doing amazing, planning everything.”
The tennis star clearly appreciates his fiancée’s efforts, stating, “It’s been a great year on a personal level as well. So we’re really happy, after here. Obviously, I’m going to try to go as far as I can, and after, we got a special special moment for the both of us coming in just a couple weeks.”
Auger-Aliassime and Ghaibi’s love story began in March 2019. The Croatian-born equestrian was introduced to Felix through her cousin, Australian tennis player Ajla Tomljanović. At just 18 years old when they met, both have grown together throughout Felix’s professional tennis journey.
Nina Ghaibi, 25, brings her own athletic background to their relationship as a professional equestrian. She has competed in global events, including the 2017 Moroccan Royal Tour. Her multicultural background, with a Moroccan father and Croatian mother, has given her a diverse perspective that complements Felix’s own heritage.

In a recent interview with ATPTour.com, Auger-Aliassime opened up about the importance of having Ghaibi by his side. “Everyone’s different. There are great players out there who are single, or looking, or not looking. It’s very personal. Relationships are so different from one person to the next. But for me personally, having Nina and having her by my side through this whole journey as a professional tennis player has meant a lot,” he shared.

How Has Auger-Aliassime’s US Open Campaign Changed His Championship Outlook?
Auger-Aliassime’s 2025 US Open run has been nothing short of spectacular, marking a significant turnaround from his earlier struggles at Grand Slam events this year. After disappointing early exits at the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon, the Canadian has found his form at the perfect time.
The 25th seed made a strong start by defeating Billy Harris in the first round and Roman Safiullin in straight sets 6-1, 7-6(4), 7-6(5) in the second round. This victory marked his first time reaching the third round at a major since the 2024 French Open, snapping a frustrating streak of early exits.
However, his biggest statement came in the third round with a stunning upset victory over third seed Alexander Zverev. Despite losing the first set 4-6, Auger-Aliassime showed remarkable resilience to win 4-6, 7-6(7), 6-4, 6-4 in a thrilling match that lasted three hours and 49 minutes.
The victory was particularly significant as it represented his first career Grand Slam win over a top-five opponent. Previously 0-6 against top-five players at major tournaments, Auger-Aliassime finally broke through with this impressive performance. The win also marked his first time reaching the fourth round at the US Open since his semifinal run in 2021.
Following this breakthrough performance, Auger-Aliassime advanced to face 15th seed Andrey Rublev in the fourth round. Despite Rublev’s commanding 7-1 head-to-head advantage, including victories earlier this season in Hamburg and Doha, Auger-Aliassime approaches the match with newfound confidence after his stunning upset of Zverev.
