Coco Gauff and Elina Svitolina played out the 2026 Italian Open women’s singles final on Saturday, with the Ukrainian coming out on top to win the WTA 1000 title. Svitolina claimed a 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-2 victory to lay down the marker ahead of the French Open and win a third title in Rome.

Coco Gauff and Elina Svitolina’s Prize Money at The 2026 Italian Open

The women’s singles event at the 2026 Italian Open featured several thrilling matches and stunning upsets as Aryna Sabalenka was sent packing early on and Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek showcased glimpses of her clay-court dominance. Sorana Cîrstea also enjoyed a remarkable run, reaching the semifinals.

Gauff and Svitolina both displayed sublime tennis en route to the Italian Open, and it was the latter who claimed the title in the final. For her triumph in Rome, Svitolina will receive a large chunk of the tournament’s $8,312,293 prize money pool.

As the Italian Open women’s singles champion, Svitolina will receive $1,234,235 in prize money. As the beaten finalist, Gauff will earn $642,488 from the total pool.

Meanwhile, Cîrstea and Świątek will both receive $338,142 for making the semifinals. Quarterfinalists Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, Mirra Andreeva, and Jeļena Ostapenko will all earn $175,436 at the Italian Open.

The players who were eliminated in the fourth round will make $92,993, while Sabalenka and the other players who were knocked out in the third round will receive $53,894 in prize money.

In addition, Svitolina will also get 1000 ranking points for winning the Italian Open. For her run to the final, Gauff will earn 650 ranking points when the WTA Rankings are updated next week.

Svitolina arrived in Rome after a disappointing showing at the Madrid Open. But she got off to a dominant start at the Italian Open, cruising past Noemi Basiletti in straight sets. The Ukrainian then continued her dominant run with wins over Hailey Baptiste and Nikola Bartunkova, setting up a quarterfinal clash against Rybakina.

The 31-year-old pulled off a stunning upset against the world No. 2, coming from a set down to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. She continued her remarkable run by sending the in-form ÅšwiÄ…tek packing in the semifinals in another nail-biter.

Svitolina then continued her perfect run in clay-court finals by defeating Gauff. She has now won the Italian Open three times, making this her eighth title on clay.

The win will certainly give Svitolina a lot of confidence ahead of the French Open, where she will hope to build on that momentum.

The 2026 WTA Tour next heads to Strasbourg as the preparations for the second Grand Slam of the year continue. The WTA 500 tournament will take place from May 17-23, before the French Open takes center stage from May 24 – June 7.
