Emma Raducanu was recently seen training in Washington, D.C., ahead of her campaign at the 2025 Citi DC Open. The WTA 500 hard court tournament is set to take place from Jul. 21 to Jul. 27, 2025, at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington, D.C.
Following her campaign in Washington, Raducanu is expected to compete in the 2025 Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Open, both of which are key tournaments leading up to the US Open. The Brit secured her first Grand Slam in New York in 2021 by defeating Leylah Fernandez in the final.
Emma Raducanu Seen Training in Washington DC Ahead of Citi DC Open 2025
After concluding her grass court season, Raducanu will kick off her hard court season at the 2025 Citi DC Open. Apart from her, former champion Jessica Pegula, Naomi Osaka, Venus Williams, Sofia Kenin, Elena Rybakina, and Emma Navarro, among others, will also compete at the tournament.
Last year, Raducanu received a wild card entry into the main draw in Washington and she triumphed over eighth seed Elise Mertens in the first round, winning with a scoreline of 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. She then advanced to the second round, defeating Peyton Stearns 7-6(6), 6-2, before her run came to an end in the quarterfinals, where she lost to eventual champion Paula Badosa, finishing 6-4, 5-7, 4-6.

Raducanu most recently competed in the grass court swing, participating in three tournaments: the 2025 Queen’s Club Championships, the Eastbourne Open, and the Wimbledon Championships.
At the Queen’s Club Championships, Raducanu received a wild card entry into the main draw for the singles event. She defeated Cristina Bucșa and Rebecca Šramková in the first and second rounds, respectively. Her run came to an end in the quarterfinals when she lost to Zheng Qinwen.
In addition to her singles run, the former World No. 10 competed in the doubles event. She teamed up with compatriot Katie Boulter and lost to the top-seeded pair of Lyudmyla Kichenok and Erin Routliffe in the quarterfinals.
Raducanu then participated in the 2025 Eastbourne Open, winning over Ann Li in the first round, but was eliminated in the second round by the eventual champion, Maya Joint.
Raducanu then competed in her home Grand Slam, the Wimbledon Championships. She secured wins over compatriot Mimi Xu and former champion Markéta Vondroušová in the first two rounds but then lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the third round.
