Emma Raducanu Opens Up About Security at Wimbledon After Facing Stalker Threat in Dubai

Raducanu is currently competing in the 2025 Queen’s Club Championships, where she received a wild card entry into the main draw. She defeated qualifier Cristina Bucșa 6-1, 6-2, and Rebecca Šramková 6-4, 6-1 to secure her spot in the quarterfinals.

Following her win over Šramková, during the post-match press conference, Raducanu addressed questions about players’ security at Wimbledon since she had the stalker scare in Dubai, where she had become visibly upset and cried after seeing the man while playing against Karolína Muchová.

The man, who was reportedly stalking the Brit, was eventually escorted out of the stadium by the police.

While speaking about Wimbledon’s security, the former World No. 10 acknowledged that it is the “heightened tension” of playing at her home Grand Slam. However, she mentioned that she has always felt “safe” and “secure” while competing there.

“I think feeling safe, feeling secure, is extremely important. I think, you know, playing at home, there is heightened tension. But for me, whenever I played at Wimbledon, I felt very well protected, very safe,” Emma Raducanu said.

The former US Open champion mentioned looking forward to playing at Wimbledon and emphasized that she is cautious about her security, as she does not want a repeat of the Dubai incident.

“I’m looking forward to going there, and I don’t think, yeah, I will feel much of a difference,” she added.

Recently, All England Club chief executive Sally Bolton also spoke about security at the Wimbledon Championships. She stated that the safety and well-being of all players is their “top priority,” and she mentioned that multiple measures are in place to ensure players’ safety.

“The safety and well-being of all of the players is our absolute top priority. I think the recent incidents coming to light certainly recognize the concern generated by that. But we have in place – and have had for many years – processes for ensuring the safety of our players,” Bolton said.

Bolton said that the Grand Slam has established liaisons with law enforcement agencies and specialist security teams to guarantee the protection of players.

“And that is in liaison with law enforcement agencies, specialist security teams, and we liaise with both tours. And that is year-round, not just in preparation for The Championships… We are putting in place measures that are reflective of the threat and risk profile at the time. It is absolutely a top priority for us,” she continued.

Moreover, Bolton revealed that they are working with players to ensure appropriate security measures are implemented.

Who Will Emma Raducanu Face Next at Queen’s Club Championships 2025?

Following her victory over Šramková in the second round of the 2025 Queen’s Club Championships, Raducanu is set to face Zheng Qinwen in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Zheng, the top seed at this WTA 500 grass court event, began her campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. She faced McCartney Kessler in her opening match and emerged victorious, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, securing her place in the quarterfinals against Raducanu.
