Coco Gauff vs Maria Sakkari, Taylor Fritz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas: Greece-USA Preview, Head-to-Head, Prediction for United Cup 2026

USA and Greece will lock horns in the United Cup quarterfinals, with the likes of Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz featuring.

Greece and USA will play the first quarterfinal of this year’s United Cup in Perth, with the likes of Coco Gauff, Taylor Fritz, and Stefanos Tsitsipas all set to feature. Both countries won all of their group matches, with Greece beating USA and Japan while the defending champions defeated Argentina and Spain. Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas have won both of their singles fixtures while Gauff and Fritz both won and lost one match.

Gauff, who was the MVP at last year’s United Cup, won her opening match of 2026 against Solana Sierra before losing to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. Fritz, on the other hand, lost to Sebastián Báez and then beat Jaume Munar to prevent his team from losing to Spain.

USA vs. Greece Head-to-Head ft. Coco Gauff

The two nations have not had any prior encounters at the United Cup but their singles players have faced one another on multiple occasions. Gauff and Sakkari have locked horns on ten previous instances, with their head-to-head currently tied at 5-5. That said, the American won both their matches last year.

Fritz and Tsitsipas have locked horns five times before, with the Greek leading their head-to-head 3-2. However, Fritz came out on top in their last two encounters.

USA vs. Greece Prediction

While the Americans have better players on paper, their current performances combined with the fact that Tsitsipas and Sakkari have won both their matches in the United Cup makes it hard to rule out the Greeks. That said, both of Sakkari’s and Tsitsipas’ opponents weren’t as good players as Gauff and Fritz.

Gauff suffered a shock defeat to Bouzas Maneiro in her last match but given her quality, we can always expect her to bounce back strongly against Sakkari. The Greek had a disappointing last season but will be high on confidence after her two wins over Naomi Osaka and Emma Raducanu. So, we can expect her to put on a tough fight against Gauff.

Fritz has not had the best of starts in 2026 due to his ongoing knee issues but if he is at his best, there is a chance of him coming out on top against Tsitsipas for the third successive time. In the mixed doubles, Sakkari and Tsitsipas will face Gauff and Christian Harrison, a pair who won both of their matches at the United Cup in straight sets.

If Greece are to end USA’s title defense, it will be pivotal for them to win both singles matches. However, even if Fritz is unable to beat Tsitsipas, Gauff could steer her team to another victory and a place in the United Cup semifinals.

Pick: USA to win 2-1
