Gauff vs. Jovic Head-to-Head Record

This will be the first meeting between Gauff and Jovic on the WTA Tour. Gauff arrives in this match on the back of a come-from-behind 5-7, 6-0, 6-4 win over Solana Sierra. She found herself a double break down in the deciding set but showcased her grit to power her way into the fourth round.

Gauff revealed afterward that she was struggling with an off-court issue, and it remains to be seen whether that could affect her performance on Monday. She arrived in Rome after frustrating early exits in Stuttgart and Madrid.

Jovic has also had to do it the hard way so far in Rome but heads into the fourth round without dropping a set. The 18-year-old claimed a 7-5, 6-2 win over Taylor Townsend in the last round, breaking her opponent’s serve six times.

Her run in Rome comes after a third-round exit in Madrid and a run to the semifinals in Charleston.

Prediction and Pick for Gauff vs. Jovic

Despite only being 22, Gauff has plenty of experience under her belt. She seems to enjoy playing on clay and made the final in Rome last year. As the reigning French Open champion, Gauff will be eager to make a deep run in Rome again to get some momentum on her side before heading to Roland Garros.

Jovic hasn’t played much on clay but has showcased her potential with her performances so far. After a breakout run at the Australian Open, she appears to be finding her form again in time for the French Open.

Gauff will no doubt receive a tough test from her compatriot, who is an excellent returner and has strong movement. But as long as Gauff is playing at her 100% level, she will fancy her chances of winning this battle. Her elite defensive skills and ability to sustain long rallies, combined with a heavy topspin forehand, allow her to play her best tennis on clay.

Pick: Gauff to win in straight sets.
