The U.S. Open has sparked major anticipation by announcing a star-studded lineup for its Open Mixed Doubles event.

Alcaraz has begun his grass-court season at the Queen’s Club Championships in London and has shared more details about the much-anticipated partnership.

Carlos Alcaraz Reveals New Details About His ‘Exciting’ Emma Raducanu Partnership

Recently-crowned French Open champion Alcaraz revealed that he made a “special request” to be paired with Raducanu for the US Open Mixed Doubles.

Upon being asked about his desire to be partnered with Raducanu, Alcaraz replied, “I was thinking that I couldn’t play better if it wasn’t with Emma. I just asked Emma if she wants to play doubles with me. Yeah, I made that special request.”

During his media session, Alcaraz joked that the British star would be the “boss” when they play together at the US Open. He described his rapport with Raducanu as “really good” and said their partnership would be “interesting.”

“You know, obviously both, you know, we are gonna enjoy, for sure,” Alcaraz said. “I will try, you know, to put my doubles skill on it. We will try to win. But obviously it’s going to be really, really fun.”

Meanwhile, the Spaniard has revealed that he is “super excited” about participating in the revamped version of the US Open Mixed Doubles tournament.

The mixed doubles event at this year’s US Open will occur during qualifying week on August 19 and 20. It will include 16 teams comprising the top eight pairs with the highest combined singles rankings and eight Wild Card entries.

“I think it’s going to be great,” Alcaraz has said of this new format. “It was an amazing idea for the tournament.”

Strong Start for Carlos Alcaraz on Grass in 2025

Fresh off his French Open win, Alcaraz has returned to the grass at the prestigious Queen’s Club championships in London.

The Spaniard had to reset his strategy ahead of the match, as his newlywed compatriot, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, withdrew from their Round of 32 encounter due to an illness. This set up a match between Alcaraz and replacement player Adam Walton of Australia.

Alcaraz wrapped up the first set in routine fashion, breaking serve a single time to take it 6-4. The Aussie dug deep in the second set to his credit and refused to be broken. The World No. 2 was clutch when it mattered the most, displaying his usual tenacity to take the tie-breaker (7-4).

Alcaraz has enjoyed immense success on grass over the past two years, having won the last two Wimbledon Championships and a 2023 Queen’s Club victory.
