The Spaniard enjoyed a phenomenal 2025 season, collecting eight titles, including two Grand Slams, and he carried that momentum seamlessly into the ongoing season. Alcaraz opened his campaign at the Australian Open, where he asserted his dominance from the outset and went on to lift the trophy for the first time in his career.
Alcaraz featured next at the Qatar Open and once again lived up to expectations. The World No. 1 recorded victories over Arthur Rinderknech, Valentin Royer, and Karen Khachanov before overcoming Andrey Rublev to book his place in the final. He then delivered a commanding performance in the title clash, brushing aside Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-1 to clinch his second trophy of the season.
With two titles already secured this season, Carlos Alcaraz arrives at the season’s first Masters 1000 event with added confidence. But before shifting focus to the Sunshine Double, the Spaniard took a brief break in his hometown of Murcia.
He shared a series of snapshots from his downtime on Instagram, offering glimpses of moments on the golf course and at a racing circuit alongside close friends. Among the highlights was the unveiling of a fresh taper fade haircut, adding a touch of style to his off-court reset. “Home was fun — off to IW! 🌴,” he captioned the post.

Alcaraz remains unbeaten in the 2026 season and will aim to extend that run at the upcoming BNP Paribas Open, scheduled from March 4 to 15 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Alongside the world No. 1, the men’s draw is also set to feature his arch-rivals, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic, adding further intrigue to the tournament.

The field in the California desert also features world No. 3 Alexander Zverev among the leading contenders. American hopes will rest on Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton, while reigning champion Jack Draper returns to defend his crown.
Alcaraz has won the Masters 1000 title twice in 2023 and 2024 and would be chasing his third this year. In contrast, Jannik Sinner is still seeking his first trophy in Indian Wells, with his best result being semifinal finishes in 2023 and 2024. On both occasions, the Spaniard defeated the Italian.
