Even during the tennis offseason, one of the sport’s brightest stars embraced a unique crossover moment. World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz recently met soccer icon Lionel Messi during the Eastern Conference Finals of Major League Soccer. The crossover quickly went viral, delighting countless fans and sparking a wave of excitement across social media.

Alcaraz is undoubtedly one of the fastest-rising stars of his generation. At just 22, he has already claimed six Grand Slam titles and sits atop the ATP rankings. This season alone, he captured eight tour-level titles, including three Masters 1000s and two Grand Slams.
The Spaniard is currently in the U.S. for the offseason and is set to compete in two exhibition events this December. Ahead of the competitions, Alcaraz attended the MLS Cup Eastern Conference Finals in Florida, where Messi’s Inter Miami faced New York City FC.
The home team dominated Saturday’s Eastern Conference Final, cruising to a 5-1 victory. Tadeo Allende’s early brace, scored within 23 minutes, set the tone for the Herons. Mateo Silvetti, who joined the club in August, extended the lead to 3-1 with an assist from Messi in the second half. Later, Telasco Segovia made an immediate impact off the bench, adding another goal.
Earlier in the evening, Alcaraz was seen warmly greeting Messi before sharing a warm embrace with Sergio Busquets. The highlight, however, came when he had the honor of presenting Messi with the Eastern Conference Finals trophy and embracing the soccer superstar on stage. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, meanwhile, seemed equally overjoyed.
The wholesome interaction drew the attention of several fans online, with one fan writing:
“His side quests this year are insane.”
Another chimed in, “More Carlos Alcaraz side quests, he looks very happy here tho! GOAT and babyGOAT!😮💨.”
“Well done Carlitos! Messi is smiling ear to ear,” a fan wrote.
One fan expressed joy at seeing Alcaraz and Messi together, even celebrating the Spaniard’s smile.
“This is so wholesome omg I love this. Carlos smiling big 😁 Messi & Alcaraz. Two of my absolute favorite athletes. Legendary. Second time they’ve interacted,” they commented.
“I remembered the viral video of him meeting Messi for the first time. Wholesome,” another said.
“Trophy from baby GOAT to GOAT,” one weighed in.
Messi has also won the Best FIFA Men’s Player award four times, claimed two Copa América titles with Argentina, lifted the UEFA Champions League four times, and won the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
