Following his win over Djokovic, during the post-match press conference, Alcaraz was asked about President Trump’s attendance at the men’s singles final match at Flushing Meadows. In response, the Spaniard expressed that it is always a privilege to have any country’s president present at a tennis tournament, showing support for the sport and the match.

Alcaraz mentioned that during the final, he will try to stay “focused” and not think about Trump’s presence, as doing so could make him “nervous.”

“Well, I think that it is a privilege for the tournaments to have the presidents from every country just to support the tournament and to support tennis and to support the match. For me, playing in front of him, to be honest, I will try to be focused, and I will try not to think about it. I don’t want myself to be nervous because of it. So, I think his attending the tennis match is great for tennis, to have the president in the final,” Alcaraz said.
