The Brisbane International continues its main draw action on Tuesday as the tournament reaches the third day of competition at the Queensland Tennis Centre. The field narrows further in singles competition across both the ATP and WTA tours, with seeded players coming into focus alongside early surprises from earlier rounds.
A series of significant matchups scheduled across multiple courts promises compelling tennis in the Australian summer heat, with defending Brisbane champion Aryna Sabalenka among those entering the day’s play.
Brisbane International Day 3 Schedule
Australian wildcard Nick Kyrgios makes his long-awaited return to competitive tennis against American Aleksandar Kovacevic on Pat Rafter Arena, marking his first ATP Tour match following multiple surgeries that sidelined him for much of 2025. The 30-year-old Kyrgios, currently ranked World No. 670, last competed professionally in early 2025 and has spent nearly three years dealing with knee and wrist injuries.
Kyrgios previously won the Brisbane title in 2018 and will be looking to recapture form in front of his home crowd.
British seventh seed Cameron Norrie opens his Brisbane campaign against France’s Ugo Humbert on Show Court 1, a matchup between two accomplished hard-court players competing for early momentum in the tournament. Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov, the 2017 ATP Finals champion who won all five of his matches undefeated en route to that title, faces Spain’s Pablo Carreño Busta in the evening session on Pat Rafter Arena.
Brandon Nakashima meets 2nd seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Show Court 2, while Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard takes on fourth-seeded Tommy Paul in ATP singles action on the same court.
On the women’s side, world No. 1 Sabalenka, the defending Brisbane International champion, begins her title defense against Spain’s Cristina BucÈ™a on Pat Rafter Arena. Sabalenka is among the tournament favorites and will be aiming to put on a dominant display in her opening singles match of the week.
Seeded fifth, Madison Keys faces fellow American McCartney Kessler to open the play on Pat Rafter Arena on Tuesday. Keys, the reigning Australian Open champion after her stunning three-set victory over Sabalenka at Melbourne last year, brings maximum confidence and momentum to Brisbane.
Third seed Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion, is scheduled to face China’s Shuai Zhang in her opening match in the evening session. The Kazakh champion, fresh off the WTA Finals victory against Sabalenka, will be looking forward to capitalizing on the tournament ahead of the season’s first major. The seventh-seed Ekaterina Alexandrova is scheduled to face the 2020 Australian Open Champion Sofia Kenin on the Show Court 2.
KarolÃna Muchová, seeded 11th, takes on Australian wildcard Ajla Tomljanovic, who has already begun her week with a dominant victory over French Elsa Jacquemot on Sunday. Marie Bouzková faces 15th-seeded Paula Badosa in a matchup that features two consistent performers on the outdoor hard surface throughout their careers.
Notably, the sixth and seventh seeds, Mirra Andreeva and Alexandrova, respectively, will team up to face an opponent yet to be determined based on earlier draw results in the women’s doubles. 2025 Shanghai Masters Champion Valentin Vacherot will also return to the court to team up with Raphael Collignon to face British Jacob Fearnley and Ecuador’s Diego Hidalgo in a notable men’s doubles match-up.
