The only prior meeting between the two came in the second round of this year’s Australian Open, with Shelton winning 6-3, 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-4.
Shelton vs. CarreƱo Busta Prediction
Shelton has been in tremendous form over the past few months and he will enter the match as the overwhelming favorite to win. While CarreƱo Busta has a lot of experience, his form has not been nearly as good enough compared to the American, and he is bound to have a tough time countering him.
Shelton won 43 out of 55 points on his first serve during his match against Buse, serving five aces and three double faults. The American is more than capable of producing a lot more aces than this and will look to fetch as many free points as he can. He is among the best servers on tour and breaking him will not be an easy task for CarreƱo Busta.

Shelton loves to attack and will go for the jugular from the start of the match. He also looks more composed and that, along with his movement, will come in very handy, not to forget the decrease in his on-court errors compared to the past couple of onths.
CarreƱo Busta won 46 out of 62 points on his first serve, producing four aces. The Spaniard also hit 30 winners but had 42 unforced errors. The 34-year-old is an effective counterpuncher but he can also switch swiftly from defense to offense. He will look to dominate his service games while looking for the odd decisive break.
Shelton is among the title contenders at the US Open and given the way he has been performing, there is a strong chance of him winning without much trouble and reaching the third round of the US Open.
