The soccer star began dating Shelton in March last year, and the pair also engaged in a TikTok trend. Later that month, the couple announced their relationship on Instagram by posting pictures of themselves together, drawing admirable attention to their relationship.
Considering the move Shelton had shared, “I feel like, you know, posting your girlfriend on Instagram is a more normal thing. I guess because of who it is, is why people went nuts a little bit. But yeah, kinda crazy how much it did blow up… and I realized, ‘wow, people care about my life that much.’ But yeah, [we’re] happy for sure.” (via the New York Post)
Despite leading her career, Rodman was seen supporting Shelton at the Wimbledon Championships, where he reached the quarterfinals, and the BMW Open, where he reached the finals. She also endorsed Shelton during his run at the US Open tournament, where he reached the third round. Still, she faced a shoulder injury that led to his retirement from the match against Adrian Mannarino.
Regarding his relationship, Shelton had positively expressed, “It’s been cool to get to know someone who goes through a lot of the same things in the spotlight, the media attention, playing for the United States, and the contrast between soccer and tennis and the similarities of both being professional athletes.” (via Town & Country Magazine)
The American star will commence his 2026 season with the ASB Classic tournament, held in Auckland, New Zealand, from January 12 to 17, 2026.
