On the tennis side of things, Shelton wrapped up his 2025 season after competing at the ATP Finals. There, he lost to Alexander Zverev, Félix Auger-Aliassime, and eventual champion Jannik Sinner in the group stage, failing to advance in the tournament.

The former World No. 5 claimed only one title this year, winning the 2025 Canadian Open. He finished as the runner-up at the BMW Open in Munich and reached the semifinals at the Australian Open, the BOSS Open, and the Citi DC Open.

What’s Next for Ben Shelton?

Looking ahead, Shelton will begin his 2026 season by competing in the ASB Classic, which is scheduled to take place from January 12 to January 17, 2026, at the Manuka Doctor Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.

In addition to Shelton, other players expected to compete in the ATP 250 tournament in Auckland include defending champion Gaël Monfils, Casper Ruud, Jakub Menšík, Cameron Norrie, Lorenzo Sonego, and Sebastián Báez, among others.

“For me it’s been great preparation, great matches, and a place that I feel comfortable. I think that to start the year it’s nice to be somewhere that you’re comfortable and feels like home. I enjoy playing there. And I’ve played well in the Australian Open after that tournament, and it’s one that I’d like to keep coming back to,” Shelton said.

The former World No. 5’s best result at the ASB Classic came in 2024, when he reached the semifinals before losing to the eventual runner-up, Taro Daniel.
