Ben Shelton faced a tough test against compatriot Brandon Nakashima in the third round of the Canadian Open but managed to battle through. While he gave it his all on the court, his girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, cheered him on from afar.
The couple made their relationship public in March 2025. Moreover, Rodman plays as a forward for the U.S. national team and represents the Washington Spirit in the NWSL.

Shelton is making steady progress at the Masters 1000 event in Toronto, where he entered as the No. 4 seed and received a bye into the second round. There, he cruised past Adrian Mannarino 6-2, 6-3 to reach the third round.
However, the clash against Nakashima proved far from easy. The 25th seed edged out the first set in a tight tiebreak, 7-6(8). Shelton responded emphatically, dominating the second set 6-2 to force a decider.
The final set demanded the best from both players, but it was Shelton who held his nerve in another tiebreak, sealing it 7-6(5) to advance to the fourth round.

As Shelton fought to stay ahead in a high-stakes final set, his girlfriend was closely tuned in as part of her night routine. Rodman later shared a clip from the tiebreak on her Instagram story, captured from her screen. The clip showed a gripping rally where both players gave it their all before Shelton sealed the point with a brilliant forehand slice.
“My nighttime routine @benshelton,” she captioned.

Rodman and Shelton have consistently supported each other in their respective careers. The soccer star often accompanies her boyfriend on tour, most recently making an appearance at the Wimbledon Championships.
In fact, the World No. 7 has also shown his support for Rodman, including during the launch of her “F50 Sparkfusion” shoe in collaboration with Adidas.
