Shelton and Rodman confirmed their relationship in March 2025. Rodman is a professional soccer player who currently plays forward for both the United States national team and the Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

After concluding his grass court season at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, where he reached the quarterfinals before falling to the eventual champion Jannik Sinner, Shelton began his hard court swing at the 2025 Citi DC Open.
For the doubles event at the ATP 500 hard court tournament in Washington, D.C., the World No. 8 partnered with Frances Tiafoe. They faced the Australian duo of Matthew Ebden and John Peers in the first round and lost 6-7(3), 3-6.
However, what captured the attention of many during Shelton’s doubles match was Rodman, who was in the stands, supporting him while wearing a striking black top with his face printed on it.

During Shelton’s singles event at the Citi DC Open, Rodman was again seen in the stands, this time wearing a stylish beige off-shoulder dress.
Shelton, seeded fourth in the singles event at the 2025 Citi DC Open, began his campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. In his opening match, he faced fellow American and wild card entrant Mackenzie McDonald and secured a 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Following his victory over McDonald in the second round of the 2025 Citi DC Open, Shelton is set to face 15th seed Gabriel Diallo in the third round of the tournament.
Diallo entered the ATP 500 hard court tournament in Washington, D.C., after competing at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. In the singles event at the London Major, he triumphed over Daniel Altmaier in the first round 6-1, 6-2, 6-4. However, his run came to an end in the second round, when he was defeated 6-3, 3-6, 6-7(0), 6-4, 3-6 by fifth seed Taylor Fritz.
In the doubles event at Wimbledon, the Canadian teamed up with Zizou Bergs, but their campaign ended in the first round with a loss to the 11th-seeded duo of Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul 4-6, 7-6(5), 3-6.
At the 2025 Citi DC Open, Diallo began his campaign in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round. He faced Fábián Marozsán in his opening match and won 6-3, 6-4, securing his spot in the third round against Shelton.
The third round match between Shelton and Diallo will be their first encounter on the ATP Tour. The winner of this match will advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face either sixth seed Frances Tiafoe, ninth seed Flavio Cobolli, Yoshihito Nishioka, or Aleksandar Kovacevic.
