Aryna Sabalenka recently won the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award. This achievement of the world No. 1 drew a heartwarming reaction from her fiancé’s mother, Ana Helena Puccetti.
Sabalenka and Frangulis have been together for nearly two years, first appearing publicly during the 2024 Madrid Open. The couple got engaged in March 2026. Frangulis, a Brazilian entrepreneur of Greek heritage, is the founder of Oakberry, a global superfoods brand.
Aryna Sabalenka’s Fiancé Georgios’ Mother Reacts to Laureus Sports Recognition
Sabalenka won the Sportswoman of the Year award at the Laureus World Sports Awards for the first time in her career. She was nominated alongside Aitana Bonmatí, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Faith Kipyegon, Katie Ledecky, and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.
Before the four-time singles Grand Slam champion, tennis players such as Jennifer Capriati, Serena Williams, Justine Henin, and Naomi Osaka also won the Sportswoman of the Year award.
Reacting to Sabalenka’s achievement at the 2026 Laureus World Sports Award, Puccetti took to social media to celebrate the Belarusian’s success. She shared a picture of Sabalenka and Frangulis from the awards ceremony, congratulating the four-time singles Grand Slam champion and calling her an “extraordinary daughter-in-law,” describing her as “beautiful” and “inspiring.”
“Congratulations to my extraordinary daughter-in-law, beautiful, inspiring! And to the most perfect couple 😍 ❤️ @arynasabalenka @georgiosfrangulis,” Puccetti captioned her Instagram story.

On the tennis side of things, Sabalenka will begin her run on the clay court swing of the tour at the 2026 Madrid Open, which is scheduled to take place from April 21 to May 3, 2026. The tournament matches will be played on the outdoor clay courts at the Caja Mágica in Madrid, Spain. Sabalenka will be defending her title, having won it in 2025 by defeating Coco Gauff in the final.
In addition to the Belarusian, players like Gauff, Elena Rybakina, Alexandra Eala, Madison Keys, Victoria Mboko, Belinda Bencic, Jeļena Ostapenko, Osaka, and former champion Iga Świątek, among others, will also compete at the WTA 1000 clay-court tournament.

This year, Sabalenka is the top seed at the Madrid Open and will begin her campaign in the second round following a first-round bye. She will face either Peyton Stearns or Loïs Boisson in her opening match. Sabalenka and Stearns have met twice on the WTA tour, with the world No. 1 winning both encounters. Their most recent match-up was in the fourth round of the 2025 Madrid Open, where Sabalenka secured a 6-2, 6-4 win.
On the other hand, Sabalenka and Boisson have never faced each other on the WTA Tour, meaning their potential match in the second round of the 2026 Madrid Open would be their first encounter. The winner of the match between Sabalenka and either Stearns or Boisson will advance to compete against either the 29th seed, Jaqueline Cristian, Moyuka Uchijima, or a qualifier or lucky loser in the third round.
