Tommy Paul recently shared an amusing story about the repossession of his truck back home in Florida while he is in Rome competing at the 2025 Italian Open. Last year, during the clay court tournament, the American made it to the semifinals before being defeated by the eventual runner-up, Nicolás Jarry.

Before beginning his campaign at the ATP Masters 1000 clay court tournament in Rome, Paul competed at the 2025 Madrid Open. He reached the fourth round before being eliminated by Jack Draper.

Tommy Paul Reveals How His Truck Got Taken Away While He Is Competing at Italian Open 2025

This year, Paul is seeded 11th at the Italian Open and began his run in the tournament in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round. He defeated Roberto Bautista Agut with a score of 6-1, 6-4, 19th seed Tomáš Macháč 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-4 and seventh seed Alex de Minaur with a score of 7-5, 6-3 in the second, third and fourth rounds, respectively.

In the quarterfinals, Paul triumphed over 30th seed Hubert Hurkacz 7-6(4), 6-3 and secured his place in the semifinals.

Following his win over Hurkacz, Paul spoke with Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj and humorously revealed that his week had been particularly “stressful”—not due to tennis, but because of the repossession of his truck back home in Florida.

“It’s kind of an actually funny story. It’s kind of been a little bit stressful week off court because I was checking my camera to see if there were like packages at my house, and my truck got repoed,” Paul said.

The former World No. 9 shared that he had fallen behind on a few payments, which led the company to tow his vehicle while he was away in Rome.

“I didn’t make my payments, and then I’m watching a tow truck pull my truck away from my house. I didn’t know that they just come and take your car,” he added.

Tommy Paul also took to social media to share the CCTV footage of his truck being towed and a photo of his truck after he reclaimed it.

Tommy Paul To Take On Jannik Sinner at the 2025 Italian Open SF

Following his win over Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Italian Open, Tommy Paul is set to face top seed Jannik Sinner in the semifinals.

Sinner, who recently returned to the court after serving a three-month suspension, began his campaign at the ATP Masters 1000 clay court tournament in Rome in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. He defeated Mariano Navone with a score of 6-3, 6-4 in his opening match and then triumphed over lucky loser Jesper de Jong with a score of 6-4, 6-2, and 17th seed Francisco Cerúndolo 7-6(2), 6-3 in the third and fourth rounds, respectively.

In the quarterfinals, the World No. 1 registered a 6-0, 6-1 win over sixth seed Casper Ruud and advanced to the semifinals, where he will meet Paul.

Paul and Sinner have played each other four times on the ATP Tour, with the Italian emerging victorious in three of those encounters. Their most recent clash was in the fourth round of the 2024 US Open, where Sinner won in straight sets, with a score of 7-6(3), 7-6(5), 6-1. He then defeated Taylor Fritz in the final and claimed the second Grand Slam title of his career.

The winner of the semifinal match between Sinner and Paul will advance to the final, where they will face either third seed Carlos Alcaraz or eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti.
