“Even times like today when you’re not sure you’re going to cross the finish line…I keep reminding myself to enjoy the moment,” Anisimova added in the interview.
The American struck with 26 winners in the match, 17 more than Pavlyuchenkova. She also extended her head-to-head record against the Russian rival to 4-0. Next up for the 23-year-old is a semifinal against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, who beat Laura Siegemund in the quarterfinals. Anisimova currently has a 5-3 head-to-head lead over the Belarusian.
After her win over Pavlyuchenkova, the American has assured entry into the top 10 of the WTA rankings for the first time in her career.
Amanda Anisimova has had quite the resurgence after taking an indefinite break from tennis in May 2023 due to mental health concerns and burnout, causing her to fall out of the top 400 in rankings.
She returned to the sport in early 2024 at the ASB Classic and has produced some impressive performances on the WTA Tour since then. Earlier this year, Anisimova won her first WTA 1000 title at the Qatar Ladies Open by defeating Jelena Ostapenko in the final.

The American next competed at the Berlin Tennis Open, where she made the quarterfinals before falling to Liudmila Samsonova. Anisimova started her Wimbledon campaign strongly with a 6-0, 6-0 thrashing of Yulia Putintseva. She then beat Renata Zarazúa, Dalma Gálfi, and Linda Nosková, berore her quarterfinal win over Pavlyuchenkova.
