Entering the tournament as the No. 6 seed, Anisimova started the match by breaking the 81st-ranked Tomljanović three times to storm through the opening set 6-1 in just 33 minutes. The match took a chaotic turn in the second set as the afternoon humidity gave way to heavy rain.
With Anisimova leading 5-4 and holding a match point on Tomljanović’s serve, play was abruptly suspended. When the players returned to the court after the lengthy delay, the momentum had completely shifted; Tomljanović saved the match point and reeled off three consecutive games to steal the set 7-5.
Anisimova appeared to regain control in the decider, racing to a 4-0 lead, but she once again faced a stern challenge as Tomljanović fought back to reduce the deficit to 5-4. Ultimately, Anisimova secured a final break in the 10th game to close out the 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 win after over two hours and 14 minutes of active play.

Reflecting on the rollercoaster nature of the match, Anisimova summed it up during her on-court interview: “There was definitely everything. I’m very ready for a nap after today.”
She expanded on the experience, emphasizing both the challenge and the atmosphere: “It was such a tough battle out there. I love matches like that. To be playing here at home in front of such an amazing crowd.. thank you for coming out after every single rain delay, I appreciate it so much. You kept the support going. You kept me fighting and gave me a lot of energy for today’s win. Ajla is such a great player. It was definitely very tough.”

Shortly after the match, Anisimova gave fans another glimpse into just how taxing the contest had been. She posted on her Instagram Stories following the win, sharing data from her fitness wearable that tracked her stress levels throughout the match.
The chart revealed noticeable spikes, particularly during the latter stages, when momentum swung repeatedly, reinforcing her earlier comments about the emotional and physical toll of the encounter.
