Amanda Anisimova Expresses Surprise Over Her Hard-Fought Victory Against Aryna Sabalenka
Speaking after the match, Anisimova lauded Aryna Sabalenka and also expressed her surprise on bagging the victory.
“This doesn’t feel real right now. Aryna is such a tough competitor. I was absolutely dying out there. I don’t know how I pulled it out. She’s an inspiration to me and so many other people. We’ve had so many tough battles,” she said.
After beating the Belarusian, Anisimova will take on Iga Świątek in the Wimbledon final. Świątek reached the title clash at the grass-couurt for the very first time in her career by thrashing Belinda Bencic 6-2, 6-0.
The Pole and Anisimova will lock horns for the very first time and the winner of their match will be adjudged the new women’s singles champion at Wimbledon. Świątek will win her sixth Grand Slam title if she wins while Anisimova will become the first American to win the grass-court Major since Serena Williams in 2016.
