What Made Victoria Mboko and Alexandra Eala’s Post-Match Moment So Special?

The gripping 2-hour, 27-minute contest had everything fans could hope for. Eala raced to a 3-0 advantage in the opening set, but Mboko battled back to level the score, only for the Filipina to close it out 6-3 ultimately. Mboko responded with equal resilience in the second set, matching the scoreline 6-3 to force a decider.

Eala appeared firmly in control early in the decider, surging to a 4-1 lead, but faltered when the pressure peaked. The third seed seized momentum, overturning the deficit to close out a gritty 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory and move into the quarterfinals.

Even after falling agonizingly short of the win, Eala kept her composure and shared another heartfelt hug with Mboko as she walked off the court.

Mboko sparked her comeback with a significant serving boost in the second set, raising her first-serve percentage from 58% to 87% and capitalizing on a lone break after Eala sent a volley wide.
