Alexandra Eala’s Parents Make a Sweet Appearance as She Heads to Wimbledon With Her First WTA Trophy

Before the Wimbledon Championships, Alexandra Eala posed with her first WTA trophy, alongside her parents, Rizza Maniego Eala and Mike Eala.

Ahead of beginning her campaign at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, Alexandra Eala posed with her first WTA trophy, a runner-up award she earned at the 2025 Eastbourne Open, alongside her parents, Rizza Maniego Eala and Mike Eala.

Eala secured her spot in the main draw of the WTA 250 grass court tournament by winning her matches at the qualifying rounds. She defeated Zeynep Sönmez with a scoreline of 6-1, 6-3 in the first qualifying round and then overcame Hailey Baptiste 6-7(1), 7-6(4), 6-1 to advance to the main draw.

Alexandra Eala Poses With Her Eastbourne Open 2025 Runners-Up Trophy With Her Parents

In the first round of the 2025 Eastbourne Open, Eala defeated Lucia Bronzetti 6-0, 6-1. She then advanced to the quarterfinals after her second-round opponent, third seed Jeļena Ostapenko, retired during the third set, with the score at 0-6, 6-2, 3-2 retd.

In the quarterfinals, the Filipina registered a 6-1, 6-2 win over Dayana Yastremska and then moved to the final after triumphing over qualifier Varvara Gracheva 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 in the semifinals. In the championship match, Eala faced Maya Joint, ultimately finishing as the runner-up after losing 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(10).

Following her match against Joint, Eala took to social media to share a photo with her runner-up trophy and several pictures capturing her experiences throughout the tournament and her time in Eastbourne.

The 20-year-old athlete mentioned that her defeat to Joint was one of her “toughest losses.” However, she expressed optimism about the positive week she experienced leading up to the Wimbledon Championships.

“Thank you everyone for the love❤️ This has to be one of the toughest losses of my early career, but I firmly believe that it’s these moments that make you stronger and shape your character. Though I’m so happy with the positive week, it’s full speed ahead to @wimbledon I have a date with center court😉,” Eala captioned her Instagram post.

Who Will Alexandra Eala Face in Wimbledon Championships 2025 1R?

Eala will begin her singles campaign at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships by facing 17th seed and defending champion Barbora Krejčíková in the first round. Last year, at the grass court Major, Krejčíková, seeded 31st, triumphed over Veronika Kudermetova, qualifier Katie Volynets, Jéssica Bouzas Maneiro, and 11th seed Danielle Collins in the first four rounds, respectively.

In the quarterfinals, the Czech overcame 13th seed Jeļena Ostapenko, and she secured her place in the final with a victory against fourth seed Elena Rybakina in the semifinals.

In the championship match, Krejčíková defeated seventh seed Jasmine Paolini with a score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 to claim her first Wimbledon singles title and her second Grand Slam singles title overall.

Eala and Krejčíková have never played against each other on the WTA Tour, but their first-round match at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships marks the first time these two players will meet. The winner will advance to face either Arantxa Rus or Caroline Dolehide in the second round.

In addition to her singles campaign at the London Major, Eala will also compete in the doubles event. She has teamed up with Eva Lys, and together they will face the duo of Olga Danilović and Anastasia Potapova in the first round.
