Alexander Zverev’s Off-Season Vacation with Girlfriend Sophia Thomalla

The world No. 3 entered the season-ending championship with high expectations but faced a challenging run in the Björn Borg Group. Despite a strong effort, Zverev was unable to advance to the semifinals after suffering straight-set defeats to eventual group winner Jannik Sinner and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime. He finished third in his group, bringing his 2025 tour campaign to a close earlier than anticipated. Following his elimination, the 28-year-old wasted no time in departing for the Indian Ocean archipelago to recharge.

In a joint Instagram post captioned “Chasing sunsets, tan lines and a good time ☀️,” the couple documented their stay at the luxury resort.

The shared gallery features a series of intimate and playful moments, including the pair cycling over the resort’s famous overwater boardwalks, embracing against a sunset backdrop, and enjoying the island’s pristine beaches. Additional footage shows Zverev descending water slides and relaxing aboard a seaplane.

Thomalla further highlighted the trip on her Instagram Stories, posting a candid photograph of Zverev on the beach accompanied by a white heart emoji, signalling the start of their downtime.

Zverev and Thomalla, who have been dating since late 2020, have become one of the most prominent couples in the tennis world over the course of their five-year relationship. The German model and television presenter is a fixture in Zverev’s player box, regularly travelling the globe to support him during Grand Slams and Masters 1000 events.

Zerev and Thomalla’s Relationship Built on Balance and Support

Reflecting on the dynamics of their relationship in an interview with RTL, Thomalla noted that their contrasting professional lives complement each other.

“There are two particularly blatant lives that are meeting,” she stated. “Alex, with the incredible sports consistency he has and the continuity he has to pull through over and over again – and my life is anything but continuous. That’s why it’s particularly important to enjoy even the simplest things together, because we don’t have a simple life together.”

Zverev has frequently credited Thomalla with bringing stability to his career, particularly during his recovery from serious injuries. Speaking in December 2021, the tennis star emphasised the pivotal role she plays in his mental preparation. “I think for tennis players it is always very important who you have next to you. Sophia is someone who gives me peace and security,” Zverev said, adding, “I play extremely well with her behind me.”

Zverev and Thomalla’s off-season retreat highlights the importance of balance and support in their relationship. The couple’s shared moments and genuine admiration underscore how their bond helps Zverev remain focused and optimistic as he prepares to return to the ATP Tour in 2026.
