Taylen Green just boosted his chances of getting drafted due to his outstanding performance at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday. The Arkansas quarterback not only showed his leaping ability but also his speed.
Scouts saw for themselves a quarterback who has impressive speed and gifted ability in the air.
Taylen Green Gets Compared to Randall Cunningham
Green topped Anthony Richardson’s vertical leap record by hitting 43.5 inches. In addition, he also ran at 4.36 at the 40-yard dash, the fastest 40 among this year’s quarterbacks at the combine, and .1 seconds ahead of the next fastest QB, Haynes King of Georgia Tech.
Per PFSN’s Zachary Franciscus, “Green didn’t just blow scouts away, not to mention everyone who was in attendance in Indianapolis; it made him one of the fastest quarterbacks to ever run the drill.” Michael Vick still has the all-time record at 4.33 seconds.
Yahoo Sports & NFL Network’s Nate Tice heaped praise on Green’s performance on Saturday. He made a bold take on social media, saying on X: “Not shocked that Taylen Green put on a show today. The most Randall Cunningham-like athlete that I can remember at the QB spot.”

Tice posted a video of her conversation with Mina Kimes of ESPN, in which they previewed the combine. When Kimes asked about whose athleticism he thought would shine at the combine, Tice bluntly said, “Taylen Green from Arkansas. He’s built like Randall Cunningham.” The comparison is lofty, indeed.
For context, Cunningham, a 1985 second-round pick by the Eagles, is considered one of the NFL’s most notable dual-threat quarterbacks, known for his elite passing and record-setting rushing. His 4,928 yards are the second-most among quarterbacks in NFL history. Alongside, he threw for 29,979 yards, more than Hall of Famers like Terry Bradshaw or Joe Namath. A four-time Pro-Bowler, Cunningham redefined the quarterback role, often scrambling to extend plays.
In 2025, Green started 12 games for the Razorbacks and earned an impact score of 84.9 per PFSN’s CFB QB Impact metrics. In addition to his impressive score, the quarterback completed 198 passes, threw for a total of 2,714 passing yards, and finished 2025 with 19 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Green previously played at Boise State for three years before transferring to Arkansas in 2024.
The quarterback also had eight 300-yard passing games in his two seasons playing for the Razorbacks. Green’s performance is huge considering that he isn’t expected to be high draft pick in this year’s upcoming draft.
According to PFSN’s Consensus big board, as highlighted by PFSN’s Ryan Guthrie, he is ranked 12th overall among quarterbacks. It remains to be seen how Saturday’s performance affects Green’s draft chances in April.
However, the fact that he demonstrated his athletic ability across 2 major categories can’t be denied. Whether Green lives up to the Cunningham comparison remains to be seen, but the primary signs are encouraging. The 2026 NFL Draft is scheduled to be held in Pittsburgh from April 23 to 25.
