Tom Brady won seven Super Bowl rings during his legendary NFL career spanning more than two decades. His dominance also had an impact on other players around the league who were not on his team.
This includes a former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker who blames the quarterback for his failure to win a ring of his own.
Vince Williams Still Frustrated With Tom Brady’s NFL Dominance
Warren Sharp recently shared a video on his X account of Brady appearing on “The Herd” to discuss his pre-snap approach to attacking defenses. He explained the importance of making the right play call based on what he determined while reading the opposing defense.
His strategy obviously worked well for him, as evidenced by his massive success, including when he played against the Steelers throughout his career.

Brady dominated the Steelers when they faced each other, with a 12-4 overall record, including a 3-0 record in their playoff matchups.

Williams was part of the team that defeated the dynastic New England Patriots 17-10 in a regular-season matchup in 2018, though he was also in Pittsburgh for their AFC Championship Game loss in the 2016 season.
The Patriots made it to the Super Bowl nine times in their 20-year dynasty, so they represented the AFC in nearly half of those seasons. The Steelers did win the Super Bowl twice during this time, but both occurred before Williams was selected by Pittsburgh in the 2013 NFL Draft.
The former linebacker obviously believes that his Steelers teams were good enough to compete for rings, and he clearly thinks he would have won at least one if Brady hadn’t been in the picture. Unfortunately for him, and theoretically for many other players in this era, this was not the case.
For what it’s worth, Williams was a key contributor to the Steelers’ defense during his time in Pittsburgh. This includes finishing among the top 30 NFL linebackers in PFSN’s LB Impact Score three times and being part of a storied franchise that has always maintained a reputation for being defensive-minded.
Further fueling their rivalry is the fact that both teams are tied at six for the most Super Bowl victories in NFL history. The difference is that Brady was a Patriot for all six of them, while Williams never hoisted the Lombardi Trophy with the Steelers.
