Super Bowl Champion Claims ‘Jordan Love Might Not Be the Best QB’ for Packers After Malik Willis’ Performance

The Packers had an awful defensive performance. A silver lining was the exhibition of quarterback Malik Willis, who led a valiant effort despite the loss.

The Green Bay Packers suffered a heavy loss on Saturday. Without Jordan Love and Micah Parsons, they couldn’t stop the strong running game of the Baltimore Ravens, who dominated the trenches and won 41-24, rushing for 307 total yards.

The Packers had an awful defensive performance. The Ravens ran all over them and controlled the clock, with 40:16 in total time of possession. However, a silver lining for Green Bay was the exhibition of quarterback Malik Willis, who led a valiant effort despite the loss.

LeSean McCoy Gives His Take on Jordan Love After Malik Willis’ Performance

Willis finished the game with 18 passes out of 21 attempts, 348 total yards, and three touchdowns. He was impressive both as a passer and as a runner, but his effort in the end was futile as the Packers’ defense couldn’t stop the Ravens.

The great performance by the quarterback did not go unnoticed by fans or analysts. One of them, former NFL running back LeSean McCoy, even went as far as to say that Willis could be a better quarterback fit for the Packers than Jordan Love, the official starter.

“Yall keep messing around if you want but J.Love might not be the best qb fit for the PACKERS,” McCoy wrote.

Jordan Love did not play due to a concussion suffered in Week 16’s matchup against the Chicago Bears. He’s still in the concussion protocol and could not recover in time to play against the Ravens. He probably wouldn’t have made a difference, as the real problem was the 307 rushing yards allowed to Baltimore.

With the Packers losing 34-24 in the fourth quarter, Willis left the game for a brief moment with a right shoulder injury. Backup Clayton Tune entered the field in his place, and in his first pass attempt, he threw an interception that ended a promising drive, effectively ending the game.

With the loss, Green Bay is now locked in the 7th seed of the NFC Playoffs. With Week 18 unimportant in terms of playoff seeding, the Packers can now rest their starters before the Wild Card Round. This gives Love, ranked No. 4 in our PFSN QB Impact Metric, extra time to recover before he re-enters the field.

For Willis, ranked 34th in the QB Metric, this was a valiant performance that could help him in March. He’s set to be a free agent after the season, and with a great game in primetime, this could turn into a lot of money from whichever team he signs with.
