Stefon Diggs is one of the most talented, reliable wide receivers left on the market, but he still remains unsigned after four days of free agency. Here’s a closer look at why the four-time Pro Bowler is still available, and where he could potentially land heading into 2026.
The Real Reason Star WR Stefon Diggs Remains Unsigned
Over 11 NFL seasons with four different teams, Diggs has been as consistent as they come. He’s totaled 942 receptions, 11,504 receiving yards, and 75 touchdown receptions. Along with his four Pro Bowl selections, the veteran wideout has also earned All-Pro honors twice and has reached the 1,000-yard receiving mark seven separate times.
At 32, Diggs isn’t the player he once was with the Buffalo Bills or Minnesota Vikings. However, this past season with the New England Patriots, he remained a key contributor on the reigning AFC champs. According to PFSN’s NFL WR Impact Metrics, Diggs posted an 87.0 WR Impact Score, placing him fourth among all pass catchers in 2025.
Aside from his age, the likely reason Diggs hasn’t generated significant interest this offseason is his off-field issues. The situation dates back to late December, when several insiders reported that Diggs faced criminal charges stemming from an earlier incident. All things considered, teams may not want to negotiate with him, given his non-football challenges.
Potential Landing Spots for the Former All-Pro Wide Receiver
While Diggs’ situation remains uncertain, it is still worth speculating about his NFL future. Notably, in a recent article published by PFSN’s Alex Kennedy, the analyst made his case for the 32-year-old.
He wrote: “A late addition to the free agency party, Stefon Diggs got released by the New England Patriots a week before signings can kick off. There’s reason to understand why the Patriots parted ways with him, with a lot of them coming off the field.”
Adding, “On the field, though, Diggs is still playing at an extremely high level. He finished fourth in the NFL in PFSN’s WR Impact Metric, and coming off a torn ACL in 2024, still ended the 2025 season with over 1,000 receiving yards. Teams in need of help in the passing game will still give Diggs a shot because of his overwhelming talent.”
Kennedy named the Tennessee Titans, Washington Commanders, and San Francisco 49ers as potential destinations, while projecting Diggs to receive a three-year contract worth $14.5 million. As he enters his 12th season in 2026, Diggs still presents a strong receiving option for any NFL franchise.
