The Stefon Diggs lawsuit continues to be a wild tale plaguing one of the most talented wide receivers in the league today. After a one-year stint with the New England Patriots, where he firmly re-established his stock in the NFL, he should have commanded a huge market. However, the offseason hasn’t gone according to plan for the veteran wide receiver.
On top of professional anguish, he’s facing personal problems as well, with the sexual assault case against him at the top of the list.
Stefon Diggs Remains Embroiled in a Legal Battle
It has been a brutal summer so far for Diggs. Alongside his release from the Patriots, news of his breakup with international rap icon Cardi B also circulated. However, the biggest blow came in the form of an allegation against him for sexual assault.
Made by social media influencer Chris Griffith, he claimed that the four-time Pro Bowler had drugged him before allegedly sexually assaulting him during an encounter between them in 2023 near Diggs’ Rockville, Maryland, home.
Citing a case for libel, the former Minnesota Vikings star denied the allegations and sued Griffith. However, the influencer fired back with a sexual assault lawsuit, and a trial is now coming up in due time.
In the meantime, though, Cardi B has gotten dragged into the situation as well. Directly addressing Griffith, the Grammy Award winner had some choice words for the social media star, accusing him of lying and standing with her former partner.

However, even after her comments, Griffith has remained steadfast in his belief. Moreover, adopting a condescending tone, he has argued that the global icon was duped by Diggs about the truth of this case.
“I don’t know why liars lie, but if a liar told me I was lying, I wouldn’t believe him,” Griffith said in a clip shared by TMZ.

When asked about Cardi B jumping into defend Diggs, Griffith responded, “A liar told her I was lying, and she believed it, unfortunately.”

Going a step further, he even tried to make vague implications about the wide receiver’s promiscuity. He said, “Yeah, but in reality, like, I feel like, how many kids were born last year with the last name Diggs? A plethora? He can’t be telling all the truth. I don’t think she would have signed up for that.”
Soon, though, as TMZ dug into the matter, claims that Griffith went after Diggs to secure money for himself were also brought up. However, the social media influencer outright denied those claims, using his lavish lifestyle as proof.
“I’m not worried about no money. I’m not worried about no money. I never demanded a dollar amount. I’m not demanding a dollar. Yeah, come on. Do it look like I’m worried about money?”
It remains to be seen how the entire matter shakes out and what is actually true in the entire situation. But the longer it has dragged on, the bigger an albatross Diggs has hanging around his neck. As a result, no team is looking to bring him on just yet.
However, if he can move past this and is found not guilty on the allegations, then multiple teams could use his services as a top-tier wide receiver.
