The 32-year-old wide receiver’s off-field legal battles have kept teams at a distance for months, and while he has already cleared one major hurdle, another remains unresolved.
Christoper Griffith Settles $10 Million Lawsuit Against Stefon Diggs’ Brother, Darez
Christopher Griffith, the man who has accused Diggs of alleged sexual assault, reached a settlement to drop his separate $10 million civil lawsuit against Diggs’ brother, Darez Diggs, and a Los Angeles apartment complex.
Griffith alleged that Darez and others attacked him on May 29, 2023, near his Los Angeles apartment building, stealing over $100,000 in property in the process.
TMZ in its report noted, “The man who claims Stefon Diggs sexually assaulted him reached a settlement with the NFL star’s brother in a separate lawsuit over an alleged beatdown … TMZ has learned. According to court docs, obtained by TMZ, Christopher Griffith hashed out a deal to drop his $10 million suit against Darez Diggs and an L.A. apartment complex. No details of the settlement were disclosed in the document.”

According to TMZ, Griffith’s separate lawsuit against Stefon is still pending, in which Griffith has alleged that the attack was coordinated by Stefon to silence him after the wide receiver allegedly drugged him and made unwanted sexual advances. The star receiver has denied all allegations and countersued Griffith for defamation.
Griffith’s legal team recently submitted more than 100 pages of text messages and social media exchanges as evidence, and a pretrial hearing is scheduled for this month. Although the settlement with Darez removes one layer of this ongoing legal saga, the main dispute between Griffith and Stefon remains far from settled.

As for the criminal case involving Diggs’ former personal chef, Jamila Adams, that chapter is closed. A jury found Diggs not guilty on May 5 of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery after less than two hours of deliberation. The NFL also concluded its own investigation in June, determining there was insufficient evidence to support a personal conduct policy violation, and Diggs will face no league suspension.
Diggs’ only remaining obstacle is the pending Griffith lawsuit, and once that case is resolved, teams may feel more comfortable extending an offer. The Washington Commanders have emerged as the most logical landing spot, and he would be a better option for them than Brandon Aiyuk.
According to PFN’s WR Impact Metric, Diggs posted an impact score of 82.9 last season, ranking seventh in the league. Aiyuk, on the other hand, hasn’t played since October, 2024, and his own issues with the San Francisco 49ers may make it tough for him to find his way to Washington.
