Stefon Diggs has been a model of consistency in the NFL since he entered the league. He quickly established himself as a productive receiver, and while he has often been labeled as having a difficult personality, his on-field production consistently justified the attention. Now, for the first time, he will play on the sport’s biggest stage.
Robert Griffin III Praises Stefon Diggs for Career-First Super Bowl Appearance
On Sunday, the wide receiver played in a conference championship game for the third time in his career. On the previous two occasions, he came up short of a Super Bowl berth: first with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017 and later with the Buffalo Bills in 2020.
The New England Patriots entered the matchup as favorites against the Denver Broncos. Still, they faced the No. 1 seed in Colorado under challenging conditions. Snowy weather made the game even more difficult. Ultimately, the absence of Bo Nix and the harsh conditions helped New England secure its first Super Bowl appearance since 2018, and the first of Diggs’ career.

After the game ended, the Patriots’ official social media account shared a short video of Diggs. He appeared to be taking in the moment, with his first Super Bowl appearance coming late in his career.

The praise did not stop there. Former quarterback Robert Griffin III, now an analyst, also highlighted Diggs’ journey as he prepares to play in his first Super Bowl. Griffin noted how the receiver finally broke through in a championship game and now has a chance to compete for a ring:

Diggs is also in the midst of a personal redemption arc. After leaving the Buffalo Bills in 2024, he signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans. That stint did not unfold as planned, as his season was cut short by a serious knee injury. The Texans still reached the playoffs but were eliminated in the Divisional Round by the Kansas City Chiefs.
He later signed a three-year, $69 million contract with the Patriots. The deal was structured to give New England flexibility if he was unable to produce following the injury. Instead, Diggs delivered throughout the season, ranking No. 4 in PFSN’s WR Impact Metric. It is safe to say he will be back in 2026.
