The Pittsburgh Steelers have undergone many changes recently, trading for Michael Pittman Jr. hiring Mike McCarthy, and now they have added some difference-makers in the 2026 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh considered to bolster their WR room on Day 2 of the draft by selecting Alabama WR Germie Bernard in the second round. Here’s a look at the Steelers’ updated WR depth chart.
Pittsburgh Steelers’ WR Depth Chart
1) D.K. Metcalf
D.K. Metcalf still stands as the team’s WR1 (80.2 PFSN WR Impact in 2025), and he’s not set to become a free agent until 2030. While offensive coordinator Arthur Smith ran a scheme in 2025 that saw running back Kenneth Gainwell become the leading receiver (73 catches), Metcalf still led the team in receiving yards (850).
With Pittman now on board, the two receivers can form a solid 1-2 punch.
2) Michael Pittman Jr.
Pittman spent the last two years playing on the Indianapolis Colts’ franchise tag. However, the team traded him to the Steelers this offseason.
In his six years with the Colts, he recorded 485 receptions for 5,254 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Last season, Pittman posted a 74.4 WRi grade, which ranked 50th in the NFL among all wide receivers.
3) Germie Bernard
Bernard doesn’t have the elite athletic upside of some of the 2026 class’ top pass-catchers, but he has the profile of a WR who’ll be picked on Day 2 and go on to be a very solid pro. At 6’0″, 209 pounds, he’s a densely-built WR with great baseline explosion and agility. While he’s not an overly twitchy mover and is more of a zone-beater than a man-beater, Bernard has a functional route tree and good stem IQ, he has strong hands over the middle, and he’s a venerable RAC threat with his measured burst, foot speed, and contact balance.
In addition to his three-level receiving value, he’s also a standout blocker with the play strength to hold up at the point and direct defensive backs out of plays. A tailor-made quality WR2, Bernard has the skill set to out-produce his draft capital in the right environment.
4) Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson featured in a very small capacity for the Steelers last season; however, he’s only set to become a free agent in 2028. He started four of the 13 games he featured in last season, putting up 12 catches for 166 yards and two scores.
While his role on the offense expanded in his two seasons in the city, it remains to be seen whether he gets more touches with guys like Austin and Valdes-Scantling out of the way.
Other wide receivers who are still under contract with the Steelers include:
- Ben Skowronek — FA 2027
- A.T. Perry — FA 2027
- Cole Burgess — FA 2027
- John Rhys Plumlee — FA 2027
- Brandon Smith — FA 2027
