Spencer Shrader had been having an excellent 2025 NFL season with the Indianapolis Colts before his knee injury. He was leading the entire league in kicking through his first five games, but has been unable to play since then. Here’s his latest update in Week 13 as they prepare to face off against the Houston Texans in an AFC South divisional clash.
How Is Spencer Shrader Doing Now?
Shrader has been unable to play in a game for the Colts since Week 5 after suffering a devastating knee injury. Michael Badgley has been filling in as their starting kicker and will continue to do so in Week 13 against the Texans.
Latest on Shrader’s Return Timeline
The Colts will not get Shrader back any time soon, as he has already been ruled out with a season-ending knee injury. His diagnosis was one of the worst situations he could have received, as he reportedly tore both his ACL and MCL in his right knee.
The second-year kicker is in his first season as a starter for the Colts and was off to an impressive start after struggling to lock down a job in his first campaign. His 2024 season began in Indianapolis before spending short stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets. Shrader started four games between his three teams and was perfect, converting all 14 of his total attempts, including five field goals and nine extra points.
This likely contributed to him earning a starting look in 2025 with the Colts, and through five games, he remained nearly perfect. He was busy in the early stages of the season.
Shrader successfully converted on all 14 of his extra points and missed just one of 14 field goal attempts. He appeared to be one of the best kickers this year, but an injury derailed his promising start as he looks to get healthy in time for the start of next season.
Badgley’s last season with the Colts went well. He scored in 9 out of the 10 chances he had, and considering the average, this is a more than decent number. He had scored 2 of his 3 50+ yard attempts.
Indianapolis Colts’ Insights for Week 13
Team: The Colts remain at the top of the AFC South divisional standings, but lead the Jacksonville Jaguars by just one game. They also have just a two-game advantage over the Texans, who they will play in a crucial contest this week.
Offense: Daniel Jones has revived his career in his first season with the Colts, ranking fifth in PFSN’s Impact Rankings among all quarterbacks. Jonathan Taylor could also be on his way to winning the Offensive Player of the Year award.
Defense: The Colts’ defense has been sneaky-good this year, as their offense has been getting most of the praise. Just three teams in the AFC have allowed fewer points this year than they have.
Fantasy: Week 13 could be a challenging situation for most of the Colts’ fantasy football players. The Texans have been one of the best defenses in the NFL by many different measures this year.
