Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham Scripted for EFL Championship Playoff Drama in Supercomputer Prediction

Wrexham are gunning for a fourth straight promotion to compete in the Premier League for the first time in their history next season.

Wrexham, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac are considered to be one of the best soccer success stories in the last few years. They are currently competing in the EFL Championship, having played in the fifth tier of English soccer in 2023.

Now, a supercomputer has offered a prediction on how the club’s campaign will conclude.

Wrexham Tipped To Play in EFL Championship Playoffs

According to Compare.bet’s supercomputer, Wrexham have a 64% chance of finishing in an excellent sixth place at the end of the Championship season this May. They are in sixth spot right now, boasting 54 points and +8 goal difference after playing 34 league games.

The supercomputer also insisted that the Phil Parkinson-coached team have an 18% chance of achieving Premier League promotion this term. Their playoff opponents are expected to be Ipswich Town, Millwall, and Hull City, with one team booking the final promotion spot.

As things stand, Reynolds’ club are 14 points behind league leaders Coventry City, who have an 88% chance of being promoted, and nine points off second-placed Middlesbrough. They trail Millwall by five points while being three points behind both Ipswich and Hull.

Should Wrexham end the 2025-26 season in a playoff berth, they would compete in a two-legged semi-final tie to decide their potential spot in the Championship playoffs final. They would face the third-placed team if they achieve the predicted league table place.

On the other hand, former Manchester United and Aston Villa star Dion Dublin insisted that the Welsh side has every chance of getting promoted to the Premier League this term.

“If they do do it… I don’t think anybody has ever done it before. Going from the bottom to the top is quite rare. But yes, the excitement’s still there. Wrexham as a place is absolutely bouncing. I think they have every chance of doing it,” Dublin recently told OLBG.

“They have to recruit incredibly well to stay there. They would need some more experience if they did get there. They need some players that have played in the Premier League. They need some players that know how to keep hold of the win. They go behind quite a lot. They do go behind quite a lot because they back themselves,” the 56-year-old concluded.

Parkinson’s team will next visit 18th-placed Charlton Athletic for a Championship match on Saturday, Feb. 28, before hosting Chelsea in the FA Cup last-16 stage on Mar. 7.
