Manchester United Hero Predicts ‘End’ of Mohamed Salah As He Makes ‘Legs Are Gone’ Claim About Liverpool Superstar

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has been told that he is past his prime following a string of poor performances this season.

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has struggled to replicate his usual form this campaign amid a public fallout with the Reds’ management. And, one Manchester United legend is of the opinion that the 33-year-old Egyptian winger is past his best now.

Why Does One Pundit Claim Mohamed Salah’s Era Is Over at Liverpool?

Last campaign, Salah showed no signs of aging as he guided his side to the Premier League title, producing a record 47 goal involvements in the league. He finished fourth in the 2025 Ballon d’Or list after registering 34 goals and 23 assists in all competitions.

However, the former AS Roma forward’s performances in the ongoing 2025-26 season have been comparatively underwhelming. He was even dropped from Liverpool’s starting 11 past December, sparking a fiery reaction from the 113-cap Egypt international.

During a recent episode of BBC Radio 5 Live’s “The Wayne Rooney Show,” Manchester United great Wayne Rooney was asked if Salah’s time as a world-class player is over.

“It will be at the end of season, you’d imagine. I think he’s an incredible player in what he’s done for the Premier League and for Liverpool… one of the best to ever play in the Premier League. But I just think, unfortunately, his legs have gone a little bit,” he replied.

“I watched him in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as well and he’s not moving as well or as he was quick as he used to, which is no fault of his own. That happens to players. You’ve probably seen the end of him from the summer on,” the ex-Red Devils striker said.

Rooney, a five-time Premier League winner, also asserted the ex-Chelsea forward has failed to bounce back from his poor run of form at the start of the ongoing campaign.

“I think it’s there for everyone to see… and it was the same with Virgil van Dijk at the start of the season. That form’s carried on throughout the season (for him). He’s not really had a great season, so that’s what I feel anyway,” the 40-year-old Englishman added.

Salah, who signed a two-year contract extension at the Reds past April, registered only 5 goals and 4 assists in 20 total games for his side before leaving for AFCON. The attacker has recorded a goal and 2 assists in four club matches since returning.

The left-footed Reds ace will next be in action against Manchester City on Sunday, Feb. 8.
