Real Madrid Injury News: Los Blancos Dealt Blow As $210 Million Star Misses Training Ahead of Man City Clash

Real Madrid's hopes of a win ahead of crucial Manchester City clash in the Champions League are fading away with this injury news.

Real Madrid have faced a significant blow ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Manchester City. Doubts have been cast over Kylian Mbappe’s availability as Los Blancos host the Cityzens at the Santiago Bernabeu on Dec. 10.

So, what is the latest coming out of Madrid concerning the Frenchman ahead of the star-studded clash?

What Happened to Kylian Mbappe?

Kylian Mbappe is a doubt for the match against Manchester City with a supposed injury. According to ManagingMadrid, he missed Tuesday’s training session and did not train with the rest of the squad.

Mbappe suffered a fracture in the ring finger of his left hand in Madrid’s latest 2-0 LaLiga loss against Celta Vigo. It appears that the issue has not resolved, and it may hinder his chances of starting in the game against City.

This match comes at a crucial time for Real Madrid, who have won just one of their last three league games. It is no secret that Xabi Alonso has been under pressure at the capital club, with his team falling four points behind LaLiga leaders Barcelona after 16 games.

Mbappe’s importance in Alonso’s team cannot be overstated. The France international, who is valued at around $210 (via transfermarkt), has plundered 25 goals in 21 matches across competitions this season, with nine of those coming in five European games.

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso sees a bit of Cristiano Ronaldo in Mbappe

Xabi Alonso recently drew comparisons between Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo and star forward Kylian Mbappe. The Portuguese legend won a multitude of trophies with them, including four Champions League titles and two LaLiga titles, before leaving in 2018 for Juventus.

“Kylian is on the way to making history at Real Madrid, as Cristiano did. Because of the weight he has in the team, the ambition he transmits, the number of goals… he is among the chosen ones. The day-to-day with him is very good. Wanting not only to do things well, but also to have a positive influence on the rest, is something he shares with Cristiano.

“That ambition that infects the rest of the team. Here, I see similarities. He is in a great moment,” said Alonso when asked by Diario AS (via Football-Espana).

Mbappe, on the other hand, has registered 69 goals and nine assists in 80 matches since joining Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2024. Alonso said they are ‘lucky’ to have a player of the Frenchman’s caliber, who has so far helped the club lift two intercontinental titles.

“Cristiano is Cristiano and Kylian is Kylian. They are both exceptional. Historic players both in Real Madrid and in the world of football. We are very lucky to have Cristiano… I say Kylian, sorry! We must take advantage of it. But, well, Cristiano is Cristiano. And Kylian is Kylian,” the Spanish manager concluded.
